2018 Reserve Syrah: Member Exclusive Library
Every vintage, prior to crafting our signature red blends, we look for spectacular barrels of our single varietal big reds. We produce these big reds using grapes from Oregon's warmer AVA's, in Southern or Eastern Oregon. In 2018, a hot dry year, we had six outstanding barrels of Syrah from the Rogue Valley. This Syrah, especially when compared with previous vintages, displays the many characteristics that Syrah can emphasize. It features bold, dark fruit on the front of the palate, is incredibly smooth, and has lovely notes of cedar wood and pepper. Syrah is so pleasing with or without food and this example, while young, will be delicious to open and enjoy now as long as you give it some time to breathe or use an aerator. This particular Syrah would pair beautifully with starch driven dishes or tomato based sauces.
