2015 'Kelley Family' Reserve Pinot Noir
This reserve Pinot noir is made up of only a handful of barrels from our 2015 vintage and captures the essence of the Kelley Family Vineyard, which is nestled into the Dundee Hills AVA. This vineyard features one of the Willamette Valley's most sought-after soils, Jory, and this wine displays the classic characteristics of both Jory soil and the Dundee Hills AVA.
On the nose this Pinot noir features a meddly of ripe red fruit and pie spice. The palate leads with cranberry and cherry, which is underscored with a rich and luscious mouthfeel. After several years developing in the bottle, opening this is a celebration as this wine is absolutely spectacular. Some say it's the best Oregon Pinot noir they've ever had. We truly cannot sing it's praises enough.
Vintage Information:
2015 was a stunning growing season although increidbly hot much like 2014, but in most vineyards in the Willamette Valley was hotter. An early budbreak lead to an early harvest and much like 2014, the fruit we brought in was gorgeous. Summer conditions in the Willamette Valley were warm, with intense heat that resulted in lower levels of acitidty. This imparts a luscious, silky and relaxed quality to Pinot noir. We also had smaller yeilds than both 2014, and the berry size was moderate, which led to more concentrated flavors. Overall 2015 Willamette Valley Pinots have a richness that is totally unparalled. This is one of the most approachable vintages we have produced in our 30+ years crafting Willamette Valley Pinot noir.
