2022 Late Harvest Pinot Gris
Laurel Ridge has been producing Late Harvest wines since the 1990’s and although it is something we love to produce, we aren’t able to make them regularly. This late harvest dessert release is the first since 2010. This wine is only made when the conditions are perfect. Late harvest dessert wines require extra time to ripen on the vine and in the Willamette Valley that means a long dry fall without the threat of rot. In the fall of 2022 the conditions were perfect. We allowed just a few rows of our Estate Pinot Gris to hang on the vine, for an additional 5 weeks. By November, the grapes reached 27 degrees Brix, sweet enough to become a dessert wine, and only then were they lovingly harvested by our dedicated winemaking team.
This beautifully balanced dessert wine showcases notes of chamomile, amaretto and ripe peach on the nose. A luscious texture, bright acidity, fresh cut pineapple and Golden Delicious apple greet you. Hints of baked apple, pear and minerality linger on the palate. Delicious as a compliment to fine cheeses, appetizers and, of course, pear and apple desserts.
