2016 'Finnigan Hill' Reserve Pinot Noir

Coming from one of our favorite high-elevation vineyards in the Chehalem Mountains AVA, this Finnigan Hill Reserve Pinot Noir is displaying elegant notes of black raspberry, black cherry, violets, and followed by cola, and baking spices. This is reminiscent of the 2014 Reserve Pinot Noir from this same vineyard, but with more depth and structure. We had several outstanding barrels making this one of our largest reserve bottlings we’ve ever produced and we are enjoying the way this wine continues to develop in the bottle. Cellaring is appropriate, if not encouraged for this wine, although opening the bottle will be a celebration all of its own.

Vintage Information:

2016 was an absolutely beautiful growing year that lead to a well-balanced and concentrated wines. An early bud break lead to an early harvest and much like 2015 vintage, the fruit we brought in was picture perfect. Summer conditions in the Willamette Valley were warm and consistent, but without the heat spikes of the few previous years. This preserved the acidity that brings balance to our Pinot noirs. We also had smaller yields than both 2014 and 2015 and the berry size was moderate leading to more concentrated flavors. Overall there is an incredible energy to these wines, they show incredible balance and promise for cellaring.

Serving Recommendations:

Serve this wine from cellar tempterature to slightly cooler than room temperature. Enjoy this bottle now through 2026.
